It’s very important to make a correct choice of the infant car seat according to age and weight of the child.
There are few main groups of car seats:
– Rear-facing (infant-only): for children till 2 years old.
– Convertible: in other words, two type of seats in one. It can be used as a rear-facing car seat until your child is 2 years old. Later, this type of seat should be turned around to face the front of the car.
– Combination: installation only face the front of the car, this type is suitable for children 1-4 year of age, weight 20-40 pounds. These seats can also be turned into a belt-positioning booster, since child weighs more than 40 pounds and has minimum 4 years old.
– Booster: these seats should be used for children who are 4 to 8 years old and are at least 4’ 9”.
